3 years of training were completed today for the fifth consultancy team for Baptist Churches in NSW and ACT. Congratulations to Frank, Lois, Viv, Karen, Jo-anne, Steve, Glenn, Ian, June, Russell and Rod. In the last workshop we looked at the relation of the church and kingdom, some final principles of consulting, teamwork and the emotional intelligence framework. Notes are in the dropbox folder.
Salvation Army Northern Cluster–Recent work on Burnout
I enjoyed today’s monthly cluster meeting with Salvation Army Officers at ETC Cafe. We explored some recent Australian research on burnout in clergy and discussed the findings which highlighted the need for an internal orientation in ministry and keeping passion and purpose alive.

Ministry Renewal Retreat Facilitators Training Victoria
Merran and I enjoyed three days with the Renewal Retreat Faciitators for Victoria this week at Point Lonsdale. Graeme Cann led several sessions on Reflection and Life Timelines. I looked at Creating a Context for Renewal, Basic Retreat Facilitation skills including Accountabilities, Covenant Formation, Affirmations and Group Formation. We explored some recent research on Burnout in Ministry and looked at Phases and Stages of Ministry.

Paul–the Apostle of Free Spirit
I enjoyed spending last Sunday with friends at Devonport Pathway to Life Church. As an introduction to the coming series on Philippians, we looked together at the life, teaching and journeys of the Apostle Paul. A PDF of the powerpoint follows this post.
Salvation Army–Cluster Group June
I spent Thursday morning in conversation with Salvation Army Officers around the issue of empowerment of others in a church context. We spent time looking at seeing potential, training and equipping, delegation, supervision, support and letting go.
