{"id":288,"date":"2016-04-18T02:35:00","date_gmt":"2016-04-18T02:35:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/johnmark.net.au\/ps\/?p=288"},"modified":"2016-04-22T09:21:02","modified_gmt":"2016-04-22T09:21:02","slug":"5-sources-of-leadership-conflict","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/johnmark.net.au\/ps\/?p=288","title":{"rendered":"5 Sources of Leadership Conflict"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"float: left; margin: 0px 15px 0px 0px; display: inline\" src=\"http:\/\/stpaulsatl.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/Church-Meeting-400x180.jpg\" align=\"left\">Over the last few weeks I have met with the leadership teams of several churches seeking to resolve internal conflicts.&nbsp; Here are some observations from the frontline.&nbsp; <\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>5 sources of conflict:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Lack of compatibility of vision and values<\/strong><br \/>There can often be a a hidden lack of compatibility between a pastor\u2019s vision for how to do ministry and church members vision for who they want to become.&nbsp; See my post on Stereo vision for more on this.&nbsp; This is often underground and reveals itself in other disagreements around finances, programs and events.&nbsp; Developing a deep level discussion around vision and values is key to resolving this.&nbsp; <br \/> \n<li><strong>Unclear expectations of leaders based on lack of role clarity<\/strong><br \/>Lots of conflict arises from disappointments based in unmet expectations.&nbsp; This is not usually around behaviour but around a lack of agreed role clarity.
