I enjoyed the opportunity to meet with 22 facilitators of Focus on Ministry retreats in Sydney on Monday. I love the Telford site at Port Hacking, sunny and relaxing looking out over the water. This year we covered Pastoral Review Processes, Understanding Church systems, Empowering Leadership and some new research on Burnout.
All the files have been updated and placed in our group dropbox.

Another enjoyable day catching up with the clergy team in the Diocese of Gippsland. This year our theme was dealing with the dynamics of conflict in parish communities and looking at strategies for early intervention. We brainstormed conflict dynamics in church communities, looked at styles and modes of conflict, church systems, a conflict process and conflict management for leaders.
Merran and I enjoyed three days with the Renewal Retreat Faciitators for Victoria this week at Point Lonsdale. Graeme Cann led several sessions on Reflection and Life Timelines. I looked at Creating a Context for Renewal, Basic Retreat Facilitation skills including Accountabilities, Covenant Formation, Affirmations and Group Formation. We explored some recent research on Burnout in Ministry and looked at Phases and Stages of Ministry.
I enjoyed spending last Sunday with friends at Devonport Pathway to Life Church. As an introduction to the coming series on Philippians, we looked together at the life, teaching and journeys of the Apostle Paul. A PDF of the powerpoint follows this post.
