Safe as Churches V

The Safe as Churches? V conference in Sydney was an important step forward in co-operation between denominations and churches around the key elements of safe church. Policy development, training, accreditation, complaints processes, disciplinary processes and pastoral care. The emphasis in this gathering was on training and policy development. The sessions by Dr Monica Applewhite on sexuality children and understanding young offenders were excellent.
I was asked to be part of a panel discussion on process concerns and also to lead two workshops on Parish Recovery.
Victorian Renewal Retreat Facilitators Training
I enjoyed networking with the facilitators of Ministry Renewal Retreats in Victoria over the last few days at Point Lonsdale. We reviewed the direction of the Retreat movement and looked at new directions and formats for retreats. Training was shared with Graeme Cann who facilitated sessions on Disappointment in Ministry and the Nature of Renewal. I worked on a number of facilitation skills, Emotional Intelligence and Spiritual Formation in Ministry. Notes are linked now to our dropbox account.

Jeremiah – The Weeping Prophet
I enjoyed beginning a new series at my home church – Sheffield Bible Chapel last Sunday on Jeremiah. This is the first of three sermons.
