Thanks to the Prebyterian Consultancy Team for an enjoyable training day on Monday. We looked at transitional consultancies and facilitating change in local churches. Maddie and I enjoyed a wet and windy morning with Salvation Army Officers at ETC looking at leadership issues. Morning Biblical Reflection was on Genesis 1, powerpoint is linked below. We followed up with some reflection on the five practices of leadership as outlined in ‘The Leadership Challenge’by Kouzes and Posner.

Equipping Priests in Charge
While the Melbourne winter rain poured outside (and, for a few minutes, inside) the Knox Quest Conference Centre over the last few days, the participants of the EPIC progam and I worked our way through three days of conflict resolution training. EPIC is the Melbourne Diocesan program for Priests in Charge in their first couple of years. Our conflict work included theory and practice around personal conflict styles, interpersonal conflict resolution skills and congregational / parish consultation processes. I enjoyed Monday afternoon with the Trainers for our new team of consultants with Churches of Christ in Victoria and Tasmania. We scheduled our next training day and looked at our consultancies in progress and the ones coming up.

I enjoyed catching up with friends at Pathway to Life church on Sunday and sharing on the topic of Fellowship. We spent some time unpacking the idea of ‘koinonia’, the NT word that is often translated fellowship but actually has a far richer and deeper set of connotations including partnership, participation, giving, supporting and standing with each other. We talked about the basis of fellowship and reflected on the implications together.
