Presbyterian Church of Queensland – Church Health Facilitation Team Training

It was great to return to Lake Moogerah south-west of Brisbane to continue training the new Church Health Facilitation Team for the Presbyterian Church of Queensland. This was their second live-in, workshop 4 of 6 in the training program. Tim taught on church systems and power dynamics, and we spent some time developing facilitation skills and reflecting on a past consultancy to consider choosing processes and forming recommendations.

The notes and resources can be found in the SharePoint folder.

Presbyterian Church of Queensland – Church Health Facilitation Team Training

Tim and I were pleased to connect with the Church Health Facilitation Team via Zoom from Melbourne this morning. We returned to the standard facilitation process before reflecting on different types of consultancies (problem solving, re-visioning, and redevelopment) and their respective dynamics. We also covered a range of diagnostic tools including comment groups, street retreats and church timelines.

The notes and resources can be found in the SharePoint folder.

Baptist Churches of NSW and ACT – Church Consultancy Training

Tim and I were privileged to spend time with the Specialised Consultancy Team and Regional Ministers at the Ministry and Learning Centre in Macquarie Park. We spent time reflecting on Acts 15 before working through a range of resources to assist churches who are navigating conflict. We outlined Christopher Moore’s 5 causal elements of conflict before revisiting the 5 categories of conflict. We included practical skilling around facilitating listening groups and the Samoan circle. We shared updated versions of resources. Alan Kelshaw, one of the highly experienced former members of the team has recently published on navigating conflict and gave us permission to use his helm model. See Navigating Community Conflict for more on the HELM model.

The notes and resources can be found in SharePoint.

Transform Southern Sydney – End of Year Gathering

It’s been great to work with TSS in their mentoring and change management programs over the last couple of years.

Tim and I had the privilege of joining TSS pastors and leaders for their end of year gathering on November 29. Tim gave a short presentation and then responded to a range of questions from re-engaging volunteer leaders to staying emotionally safe in ministry.

Thanks to TSS for their partnership.

Baptist Churches of NSW and ACT – Church Consultancy Training

Back again to Macquarie Park!  Again with the Specialised Consultancy Team at the Ministry and Learning Centre for the Baptist Association of NSW and ACT. We started by reflecting on insights from Appreciative Enquiry (Ai) and its place in Complicated and Complex Systems. We then explored the benefits of taking an Assets Based Community Development (ABCD) in church consulting.
