I enjoyed teaching conflict management and resolution skills to Priests in Charge for the Diocese of Melbourne over three days this week. We covered a number of frameworks for understanding conflict and looked at some practical processes for resolution in both interpersonal and parish processes. All the notes and handouts have been added to the EPIC dropbox.
Crusaders Staff Training – Conflict Resolution
I enjoyed today with the staff team from Crusaders in NSW at their Galston Gorge campsite – even picked up a few magic tricks on the side. We looked at conflict styles, Matt 18 and explored a series of scenarios. In the elective session we reflected areas of vulnerability and processes of self care in ministry. Salvation Army Northern Cluster–Recent work on Burnout
I enjoyed today’s monthly cluster meeting with Salvation Army Officers at ETC Cafe. We explored some recent Australian research on burnout in clergy and discussed the findings which highlighted the need for an internal orientation in ministry and keeping passion and purpose alive.

Salvation Army–Cluster Group June
I spent Thursday morning in conversation with Salvation Army Officers around the issue of empowerment of others in a church context. We spent time looking at seeing potential, training and equipping, delegation, supervision, support and letting go.

ADF Chaplains Seminar Sydney–Richmond Air Force Base–7-9 May, 2012
The Chaplains of the ADF serve in a complex and challenging environment. Along with pastoral responsibilities for service personnel and their families, they provide counsel and support to the unit command on matters to with the ethics of engagement, relating to local civilian populations and on unit morale. It was a privilege to work with the Sydney Region Chaplains this week at the Richmond Air Force Base on pastoral transactions around moral injury and repair, leadership practices and processes for systemic health.
