SMBC Pastoral Care – Guest session on Conflict in Christian Communities

Great to spend the evening with students in the Pastoral Care class at Sydney Missionary and Bible College in Croyden, We explored unique features of conflict in churches, Jesus’ teaching on conflict in Matthew’s gospel, the constituent parts of conflict and how to care for those experiencing conflict and respond to conflict in churches. Anglican Diocese of Sydney – Parish Recovery and Support Teams

It was good to continue training the Parish Recovery Consultancy Teams for the Diocese of Sydney today. We worked through strategies and skills for supporting parishes in times of tension and recovery. Part of our learning was exploring dimensions of complex systems theory as it applies to the unique elements of helping church communities process difficult events in their communal life. Notes and tools including the final discussion around Belbin Team roles have been updated to our team dropbox.

Melbourne Anglicans – Training days for Conflict Support for Parishes–24-25 October

I appreciate the opportunity to spend two days partly with Senior Staff and partly with our Parish Support Teams for the Anglican Diocese of Melbourne. We spent some time in strategic thinking about building conflict competency across the Diocese and also time in training and equipping the consultancy team. Notes are in our team dropboxes.

Yarra Yarra Presbytery Retreat–UCA at Millgrove Victoria

Great to be spending the day with clergy from the UCA Yarra Yarra Presbytery up at Pallotti Retreat Centre in Millgrove exploring issues of team ministry.
