It was somehow appropriate to have my last training day for this year on the subject of congregational conflict resolution. It has been a major theme for me this year. The Baptist Team worked on Mediation Skills, Levels of Conflict and we touched on the investigation of allegations in a case study.

It was good to be back at St Andrew’s house today for our last training day for the year with the Diocesan Parish Recovery Consultancy Team. We worked our way through a difficult training case scenario and covered a debriefing process using timelines. During the afternoon session we looked at several common questions that are raised during consultancies and how to adequately respond to them.
It was a privilege to speak at the Graduation of a group of Mentors who have completed the 3 year Mentor Equipping course last night in Melbourne. Congratulations to all and also to Pastors Vicki Mustafa and George Buchanan who were the facilitators for the training. Great to hear the reflections of participants and to join in the final training day of the course. I appreciated hearing George speak at the end of the service on why he believes in mentoring.
October is often a transition time for Salvation Army Officers. The Northern Cluster group spent this morning looking at change and transition in ministry. We spent some time on both the Bridges model of transition and Kotter’s leading change paradigm.
