I had a wonderful two days with the Churches of Christ Consultancy teams A and B this week in Melbourne. Team A today covered facilitation skills in greater detail and we looked at recommendations around self care and mentoring for pastors. Team B on Wednesday spent the day looking at Pastoral Reviews and the tools and processes used in these situations. Thanks to Mark, Peter and Robyn who facilitated the training of the new group with me. We all worked through the implications of several of the consultancies the teams are currently working with. Arrow 8 Conference – Conflict in Christian Communities
I enjoyed teaching this morning at the Arrow 8 Leadership Conference in Melbourne. We explored some of the issues surrounding conflict within Christian communities. Two sessions covered an introduction to conflict sources and processes and also personal conflict styles.

Baptist Union of NSW and ACT – Church Consultancy Training Aug 2010
Consultancy training today focused on facilitating Leadership Reviews for pastors. We looked at the key issues and elements of reviews in the first session and covered an overview of process. A couple of case studies followed then and some tools were given out for use in the process. The new and existing teams divided for specialised training after lunch covering church size dynamics and church recovery following conflict.

Presbyterian Church Consultancy Team NSW – Training Workshop
Thanks to the Prebyterian Consultancy Team for an enjoyable training day on Monday. We looked at transitional consultancies and facilitating change in local churches. August Northern Cluster Meeting – Salvation Army
Maddie and I enjoyed a wet and windy morning with Salvation Army Officers at ETC looking at leadership issues. Morning Biblical Reflection was on Genesis 1, powerpoint is linked below. We followed up with some reflection on the five practices of leadership as outlined in ‘The Leadership Challenge’by Kouzes and Posner.
