I spent Sunday through Tuesday at the Belgrave Heights Convention Centre training facilitators for Ministry Renewal Retreats in Victoria.
The training covered trauma informed facilitation, self-care plans, an updated self-care workshop, pastoral care, and the Leadership Practices Inventory (LPI).
Renewal Retreats were established by Rev Les Scarborough around 35 years ago. Each retreat group meets for three residential retreats (one a year) and a number of day retreats between residentials. Groups have around 8 members who are asked to make a covenant commitment to a shared process of renewal for the full three years. In journeying together towards renewal, the group becomes a transformational support and growth community, encouraging each member in their lives, ministries and leadership. While the retreat process is facilitated by two equipped members, much is open to the input and decision making of the group.
Groups are functioning in many denominations and also operate non-denominationally in several states. Find more information here[1].
Resources from the training are in the shared Dropbox.
